popular serizawa acts weird around me ( 陽キャ集団にいる芹沢は、俺の前だと様子がおかしい)

i dont think i will EVER shut up about this stupid show since i started watching it. its JUST had its finale and ive been praising it since the first episode dropped.. can you tell i like it? i am SUCHHHH a sucker for loser ukes !!!!! (spoilers will be hidden!)

popular serizawa is about a loner fudanshi, hajime suzuki, who secretly wrote a BL novel starring his famous classmate, haruto serizawa. serizawa ends up reading it, but instead of mocking suzuki, he begs to be his first reader, and strives to be the ideal seme. yes this is beta reader x fanfic author yaoi and i am SAT. this show makes me cringe every five seconds and i LOVE IT !!! i think the main reason why i enjoy this show so much is that suzuki is SO relatable. thats me guys. we even pose in the same awkward way. that dude is my GOAT.

serizawa literally falls in love with him IMMEADIATELY after seeing his face light up reading yaoi like its the bible. my dude is sobbing over yaoi in the school library. thats me.

i was also really happy that it was the popular seme that fell first, and fell a YEAR before they ever met, because he was too nervous to make a move. one of my favorite scenes is when serizawa finds out hes in the same class as suzuki for their 2nd year, and he literally yells "YES!" and pumps his fists. and when he finds out that suzuki reads BL, he proclaims that he'll become the god of bl, and starts to build his own collection to have something in common with his crush 🥹🥹. URGH these idiots are SO cute. i heavily enjoy shows that have at least one episode from the ML's POV, because it really shows how they feel. ive read books that switch to the ML's POV, and hes just a huge asshole that only likes the MC's body. so it was awesome to see the ML being even more derpy than the MC.

i guess the only bad thing i have to say about this show is that it takes SO LONG for the main two to get together. up to episode 10, the mc STILL hasn't realized the ml has a crush on HIM lmao. IDIOT. i mean i get it. the whole thing is that the mc is such an overthinker and oblivious that he cant even fathom that the ml likes HIM. after he literally

KISSES him. suzuki thinks he did that to GIVE HIM IDEAS FOR HIS NOVEL. and for a whole episode he thinks serizawa has a crush on his FRIEND, and not him, the GUY HES BEEN FLIRTING WITH THIS ENTRIE TIME.. LMAOOO.

this also had PERFECT queer struggles in it too. its not incredibly sad, but its SO relatable. suzuki gets kicked out of his friendgroup for his interests (not counting this as a spoiler because its pretty obvious ! also im kinda tired of putting all these black bars..) in first year, and is left all by himself until he meets serizawa and his friends. he LITERALLY compares serizawa to the sun. the shots above are GORGEOUS by the way. all of the shots and the color-grading are gorgeous. maybe except the intro.. but its still quite cute lol.

the way suzuki gets kicked out too sounds EXACTLY like something younger me would do too. his friends are talking about their interests, and they turn to him, and hes like "oh yeah, im really into BL lately, so heartwarming, y'know?" or something and his friends just pause and start laughing at him. they call it weird and gross, and start shipping him with his other friend, who gets uncomfortable, leading to suzuki getting isolated from the group, although that friend later apologizes. ARE YOU ME??? i thought it was even sweeter that serizawa picked up on this and thought suzuki was so cool for continuing in his hobbies even though he got ostracized for it. URGHHH

the actors did a PHENOMENAL job too. i adore BLS where the uke is touch-starved and just melts into the seme. or he's trying so hard to hold back but can't. also the amount of physical touch in this is incredible. it really seems like they're in love. shoutout to koizumi kosaku waow (also reading ryoto's interviews for the show, literally all he says is how much he's in love with kosaku and how handsome he is LMAO. maybe thats why it seems so real)

one thing i have to say that is just COMPLETELY false is that. what do you mean the popular boys ALL like BL. when has that EVER happened. if so let me know so i can move there. anyway, in conclusion, this show should be SO much more popular !! it reminds me a lot of sasaki to miyano, if sasaki was a HELL of a lot more possesive. the ending was incredible too !!!! these idiots are so cringey and adorable !!!!
