tokimeki memorial girl's first side love is an otome dating sim released on June 20, 2002, for the PS2, although it eventually had a rerelease on the DS with new features, and a version for mobile phones as well. This series was actually intended to be male-oriented, although this game is made for a female audience in mind, given its dress-up features (god forbid a dude wants to dress-up too/hj). The game involves a female protag, commonly called Minako by fans, who goes through her high school life at Hatabaki Academy and searches for love. The love interests include Hazuki Kei (♡), Sakuya Morimura (♡), Shiki Mihara, Madoka Kijyo, Kazuma Suzuka, Wataru Hibiya, Reiichi Himuro, and Ikkaku Amanohashi, along with three secret love interests, Chiharu Aoki, Jin Tendo (♡), and Hanatsubaki Goro. The gameplay consists of choosing daily and weekly activities for Minako to do, such as improving charm, hanging out with her female friends, or studying, among others. The number of points you achieve by doing these tasks can affect the ending and introductions to characters, which makes it quite annoying to do so. Minako can also call her love interests on dates, which they are VERY picky about. She can also join a club, befriend several female characters (i <3 fuji), and have her nosy brother give her info on the LIs ! The game also has a skinship feature, that allows you to touch the love interests when on dates (my stupid self didnt realize you didnt HAVE to touch them and was so confused why they hated me LMAO).
this game is INCREDIBLY annoying i love it !!! hazuki (pictured), sakuya, and jin (left) have AWESOME designs ( especially jin i <3 gyaruos !! maybe not sakuya so much with his choppy bangs..) and characters! the gameplay of deliberately choosing minakos actions is really cool, and i wish more otome games had that feature. the minigames are also super duper fun and the story is incredibly rich. despite that it has a LOT and i mean a LOT of faults. although the gameplay is cool, it is SO HARDD. after two years ive still never beaten the game because if you DARE to go to the same date spot twice or wear the wrong aesthetic or not hang out with a love interest enough, they will DESPISE YOU. they are so picky for absolutely no reason while my female friends are so calm and chill LMAO atp id rather date them. also you can date TWO grown ass adults, including your homeroom teacher. sorry reiichi your jawline is incredible but thats illegal.. also if you dont save every five seconds and look at guides you are COOKED. i mean its very 2000s which is understandable i guess, and i still wholeheartedly recommend, but ts crazy LOL
